And now I grant you with my presence. . . .
Well, like always, I never update my journal. I look at skylanth with envy because she writes these almost epic entries at least once a day. Sheesh!
Anyways, I will try to at least talk about the last week. OK? Ok. . .
Well, my 24th birthday was last Friday. We had a kickback party over at my house celebrating mostly my birthday, but also sharing the love for majorxero and Letty, whose birthdays were also that week. It was fun. I got to see Anthony, who I hadn’t seen in a while. Same for Carlos and Yair, and Yair’s baby Dalilah (I know I spelled it wrong, so sue me).
Now let’s jump to Thursday. Alex invited us to got with them to go see Ozomatli in a free concert in Downtown LA’s California Plaza. It was so FREAKIN’ COOL!! First of all, it was nice and nostalgic because the last time we were there, it was definately the three of us (amontoya and Juan and me). We had gone down with our play production class to see Culture Clash – remember them? Well anyway, that was fun, but nowhere near as fun as Ozo was! Wow! OK, if you are unfamiliar with Ozo’s entrance, let me tell you: They come marching in from some point at the back of the audience – full on procession with drums dancing all the way through the crowd to the stage. So Alex and I are sitting in our seats (which were great by the way), planning out the dream route that they should take: go down the stairs and come through our row and go up the steps on stage right to the stage. Ha!!!! They did it!! Well, see, Alex and I split up, she sat behind me with her man and a couple of friends, and Juan and I sat in front of them. Well Ozo marched right in Juan and my row!!!!! OMG!!!! We were soooooo awesomely excited, we could barely contain ourselves. So they put on this aweseme show with all of their good songs – not limiting themselves to “embrace the chaos” (their latest album). They also gave us a sample of their new stuff (which is great by the way).
Well it was also freakin’ cold (well, before Ozo came on, cuz during the actual show I was sweating I was dancing and jumping around so much). So I made that my excuse to buy myself a $50 Ozo sweatshirt. Awesome man. I love it. I know it’s expensive – but you don’t understand – it’s Ozo.
After the show, Alex and Chuy were chasing some of the band members around for autographs and to tell them how awesome they are.
When we were walking to the parking lot, we passed by this building were they were doing some filiming. They were also filming while we passed by. They were filming a Christmas Heineken commercial. So whenever you see it come out – a snowy scene that upon close inspection is just shreaded paper coming from the office party above – think of me. 😉
Anyways, so then on Friday, Juan and I went to go see “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”. Hah! It was so funny. I really liked it. With some obvious changes, they could have called it “My Big Fat Mexican Wedding”. Oopa!
Then on Saturday, Juan and I went to go see “Spirited Away” over in Hollywood’s El Capitan Theater. It was lovely. Weird thing is, we ran into Nacoolani! Yeah, from Garfield. To make things even weirder, I had run into Mike Acuña earlier that day at MESA. Them two and Aaron where the trio. They always hung out. But apparently after HS, they Nakoolani and the boys parted and haven’t spoken since. So yeah, it was weird to run into both on the same day after years of being MIA. Coolest thing: Nacoo’s co-worker gave us all the snacks we wanted to for free! The movie itself was awesome – not to mention that we saw it on a digital projection screen. It was wonderfully crisp. The theater itself is a jewel as well. Only one movie shows at a time, and the architecture is that of the old grandiose era of theaters. It was built in 1926. But I am rambling now.
The movie was great. Scary and gross at points, but very very wonderful. I love Miyazaki’s work. I need to get this on DVD.
And that brings me to today, where I slept like a bum.
Ta da!
