So many things that I have been wanting to talk about…
Well, the party on Wednesday was cool. It is always nice to see people out of uniform, even if some of us where still wearing something Hawaiian. They had free alcohol left and right and some really good food. The Facilities guys who put on this whole gig did an awesome job, from the cooking to the set up of the event. They made a miniature golf course, two huts, and, get this, took a golf cart (well, we don’t use it for golf, but you know, one ofthose little cars that we use to go from here to there on the facilities) and made it look like it was made of bamboo. I can’t wait to share the pictures. Best part was seeing people in costume. In particulay, Micah and Wendy, They dressed up as the Howells (remember, Gilligan Theme), except that Wendy was the Mister, and Micah was Luvvy! It was great.
Rememer I was going to help with the baby sharks? Well, I did, and as I was preparing the eggs to be put on display, two of them hatched right there in front of me! I wish I had a digital camera! Oh man! I instantly fell in love with these babies. They were one Brown Banded Bamboo Shark and one White Spotted Bamboo Shark. They were so adorable, no bigger than from the tip of my index finger to where it meets the thumb. I got so attached! I felt like their mommy. lol
Yesterday, as I was leaving Shark Lagoon, this one man tapped me on the shoulder and asked me a question. After I answered it he told me that he remembered me from the last time he was here and that I am always very nice and helpful. That totally made my day. You wouldn’t believe how rare it is from someone to recognize you’ve done a good job, even less that you’ve done it twice. I was a very happy clam.
At the end of the day yesterday, I helped with the feeding and training at Lorikeet Forest, which is always lots of fun. Rungus was in an especially playful mood. The squirrels, however, decided that they would jump on my bare chest, that part that is exposed by the button down shirt, and hold on. There is nothing to hold on to at that point, so they slid down with those nice little sharp claws that they have. Yup. They left nice trails. It hurt. Mhm.
Congrat Shalea! Congrats on finishing your first week as a maestra (ok, first two days)!
Now, I am just waiting for the tickets to finish printing. We are off to see John Williams conduct!
