First things first:
majorxero posted in his journal (what the hell?! I just read his journal without using my friend’s page, and dude have I missed posts!!), anyway, he is alerting everyone to his dear friend salamanders who needs help for her kitty Nefer. She has made a webpage in honor of this feline and is taking donations via paypal to pay for vet bills. She’s a recent college grad with no money (oh do I empathize!) and needs help to pay for the kitty bills. She doesn’t have much hope that she will raise enough money this way, but let’s show her what the LJ community can do. If all you can spare is a buck, then a buck it is, but more than that, spread the word. With the recent “Get a Clue 2” Campaign, well, the HP community once again showed that we are awesome and can do a lot of good when we come together.
So please, at least take a look and spread the word. You may not be able to donate, but you might just inform someone who can.
Now for my personal update…
Yesterday was spent walking the streets of Downtown LA with my mom in search of a very specific piece of jewelry for a present. We didn’t find it. Worse was the fact that I drew it out and showed the different shops and half the people laughed when they saw it. It wasn’t a funny piece of jewelry, and my drawing wasn’t thatt bad! Even my mom was confused. Anyway, we didn’t find it, but hilda found it this morning on ebay. Yes, I know, we should have started there. I also bought hilda something online, Xaviera, and Juan. I think that perhaps next year, I will not leave the house and do it all online. It is more exciting and stress-free.
On Saturday, I got out of work late, Juan picked me up even later, and we really didn’t do much. After dinner Juan decided that he wanted to take a bike ride around my neighborhood, so we took the bikes out, and after checking the tires (and filling up with air) and tightening the handlebars on his bike, we went out for a couple of laps around the park. It was so nice, relaxing, and fun. It started to drizzle and we kept going. Finally we stopped at my house and put the bikes away. Juan was very happy that we did that, and surprisingly, so was I. It was a very nice ride and I can’t remember the last time I went for a bike ride.
Then on Sunday, we got up before the crack of dawn and left my house to go help Juan’s parents load the furniture on the truck for their weekly Swapmeet that they do. Well, if you remember, it was sprinkling, and since they sell furniture, they didn’t want it to get messed up, so we ended up over there really early and not doing anything other than falling asleep watching tv. We had breakfast a little later, and went back to sleep on their brand new Italian leather sofas (Cake song in my head). We finally got up at around noon, Juan took a shower and we went xmas shopping. This year it has been so hard shopping for people. Everyone’s tastes have gotten so particular and our own tastes don’t allow ourselves to take the cheap route, so we ended up not buying anything for the first few hours. Then we hit the mall and got a few items. Tired as hell, we went to eat dinner and came back to my house.
And now I have to clean up my room and wrap presents. I am always the designated wrapper (insert miserable attempt at beat boxing here) which I enjoy.
