Bird Flu and Dresses and Paper, Oh my!

The birdies are on quarantine at work. They will be off display for 45 days because some of them came down with a flu. This kinda makes me sad for the birds, that they’re sick and stuff, but for me, seeing as how I will only be presenting three times this whole month, it doesn’t affect me too much in my day to day at work.

So what the hell am I doing if not presenting and doing tours? This month, it’s all about outreach. Outreach, outreach, and more outreach. I only get one overnight this month, which I will miss doing more of. The only thing that bites about outreach is that I have to get there so early. Ugh. Like this Friday, I have to be there at 5:45am. It’s not always the case, but most of the time it is so.

An exciting thing though, is that this month I am going on “Nature by Kayak”. The aquarium puts these out every month and a couple of educators lead the tour/expedition on kayaks. Since the girl that was pretty much in charge of doing them is six months pregnant now, she’s not really that great a candidate for it, so I am getting trained on it, and will hopefully be doing that every month. Getting paid to kayak! Woo hoo!

Wedding update: The bridesmaids dresses are almost all ordered in. I think we need just one more, and the order goes through. Waiting on my dress to arrive later this month. I placed an ebay order on some clear vellum, and am currently looking for some nice card-stocky paper to bring the invitations together. I need to shop more in person and online for that. It is a hard thing to find, and then I am also looking for nice envelopes that don’t cost an arm and a leg. If you know of anywhere that I can order them, let me know. Need to tie up loose ends with a few people with details and stuff. Times a wasting.
