My flist has been very busy, and so have I, so it took me all morning to read through all the entries.
I called in sick this morning to work. It just got worse yesterday while on outreach. N_ was great and did both presentations while I did delivery for both of them. I wouldn’t have been able to talk that long. These K-1 graders were amusing. They totally were not playing with me. Usually as the delivery person, we kinda play around with the kids and the packages that we deliver. These kids? No way. Sometimes I’ll come in announcing “Delivery! Delivery for the Aquarium of the Pacific! Who here works for the Aquarium of the Pacific?” and I look at the kids. Normally about a third raise their hands because they know this is a game and they want to see what happens. So I ignore the presenter and go to one of the kids with their hands raised while the presenter vies for my attention. It then gets cleared up with a couple more gags and the kids (and we) have a great time with it. With these guys, only two raised their hands. When I went over to her she regretted it instantly and didn’t answer any of my questions. Then the boy behind her raised his hand and politely said in a very serious tone, “Miss, she doesn’t work for the Aquarium. She was only pretending.”. lol Very amusing kids, but hard to work with the gags with them because they couldn’t understand that it was all a game.
Anywho, been having problems with our outreach truck lately, but so far, nothing that has stopped us going out, thank goodness. Today I called in because it is my only work day (as in work in the office on my own projects) so no one is depending on me to show up for anything, but most of all because I want to avoid A/C for a day. That is what is killing me right now.
Juan and I had a marvelous Monday. We started out at the DMV (where I passed my driving test – this girl finally went through and got her license!). After that we came back to my house and ate breakfast and headed out the the County Registrar’s to get out Marriage License. It was really cute to see the other couples in the same line as us. The couples getting married right there looked all nice, while the couples getting married elsewhere just looked casual. It took us about an hour, but it was an hour well spent. Juan and I just made the most of that time. Then we went to get him a new phone cause his other one was broken, so now his is just like mine. Then we crossed the street over to eat sushi at Kabuki’s. Juan keeps saying that we should make some edamame at home.
Sabi picked up her bridesmaid’s dress yesterday, so ladies, your dresses are ready to pick up. Miss Teacher, I need to talk to you about what we are going to do about your dress and other things.
Now on my list, I need to register the volvo and get insurance so I have something to drive around in. Today would have been a good day to do that, but now I’ll wait til Friday.
