The clock is ticking..

Oh man, things are getting taken care of but still. It feels like we still need three months for planning and taking care of things for the wedding, when in fact we have less than three weeks. (!!!!!)

amontoya and I are supposed to go out and take care of bouquet flowers tomorrow, my final dress fitting, and hopefully some other stuff (like the bachelorette). Alex hasn’t had time to really take care of anything with me, and that’s fine. The girl just got her Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences! She walked the walk last Saturday and luckily (thanks to her hubby Chuy), I was there to see it. Dude, it is such an awesome feeling to be up there and see that there are people there supporting you. She ended up with a beautiful white orchid lei from her cousin, a beauty queen white rose bouquet from her parents, and a pretty mixed bouquet from me. In addition to the bouquet though, I got her a pretty pillow and a monkey. Hard to explain fully, but she liked them. I know I posted it somewhere, but I want to say it again, I am really proud of you chica!

After the graduation, we went to one of her professor’s house where they were having a very nice party. It was a beautiful mexican house in all of its humble rainbow glory. I mean every room was painted a beautiful bright color, and the decor was sparce but carried weight. The food was excellent, and later in the evening, her kids and about ten others started to Fandango. I had never heard of it before, and never been to one, but it was a lot of fun. The kids (and by kids I mean high school/college kids) were all playing mini guitars (kinda like ukeleles) or percussion, and very folky singing ensued. The daughter got up and danced some nice stomping sort of dances on a wooden block in the middle of the room and everyone just had an awesome time.

Yesterday I was reading a book amontoya lent me. It’s a wedding planner for the working woman with lots of great charts and tips and stuff. Well, I was reading the gifts section about ettiquette and how you will start to receive gifts as soon as invitations are sent out and all that stuff. Well, us latinos like to get to the party with the presents so that we don’t arrive empty handed (and also probably subconsciously because we are procrastinators), so I thought that the whole getting presents before the wedding wasn’t really something that we would apply to. Then lo and behold, the UPS guy came and delivered our first present! I was so excited! And you know what is even more exciting? It’s from one of my girls at Immeritus, Elizabeth (accio). If you read this Elizabeth, I want to let you know I received your gift and Juan and I are very excited about it. We both think you are a darling for sending us a present when you don’t even know us in real life. You will now forever hold a special place as the first person who gave us a wedding present. 🙂

Tonight? Another overnight. Theme? Sharks! Woo hoo! And it will be a small group of middle school kids, so all should be great.
