Saying goodbye…

I have been putting it off, for what you could argue is years. Right now, I am sitting in my closet (yes, with my laptop, shuddap!) going through years worth of shirts and other clothes. It is so hard for me to throw things out, but I have to, especially since we don’t really have drawers in our bedroom yet, and I don’t really wear any of these shirts anymore. So I am going through shirts,

  • like the one that I got after competing in the English Speaking Union’s Shakespeare Competition. I recited a monologue (a great one by Emilia at the end of Othello, when she talks to Desdemona about the intricasies of cheating) and a sonnet (Let me not to the marriage of true minds…).
  • or some of my more beloved and worn out ‘rockera’ shirts with the Caifanes, Mana, and El Tri
  • and even some of the MESA shirts that I never wore, but liked to own nonetheless, because they remind me of these great summer trips, spending time with people that take academics seriously, but in a fun way
  • I am even looking at some shirts here that I ‘designed’ myself and don’t know if I should toss or keep. Mostly from my days in MESA, but also from 4th Floor LSKB when I was an RA for the all girls floor. Alright, I’ll keep that one.
  • oh, I really love this boy shirt that I loved wearing in HS, one of those cute striped alligator shirts
  • Trogdor! He stays.
  • oh my gosh! A shirt with the peanuts on it that my mom got my when I was Lucy in You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown!
  • one of Emma’s “orange project” shirts
  • a CyberSlugs shirt (wearing cool dark shades with a laptop on his, uhm, slug lap
  • all these Merrill College and Banana Slug Spring Fair shirts. Man, I had a lot of fun those years…

Dude, what a stroll down memory lane, and this is just my shirts – that I am throwing out! I don’t want to think about it too hard, or else I will dig out a bunch of my Jaguares and Mana shirts, along with a few school ones as well. Must ….. resist.
