What? Me update?
Yes.
I haven’t been online to talk about anything other than hp or Immeritus lately, and when it comes time for me to sit and write about my own life, I get tired and decide to not write it at all. That line that was going around a while back about how you live your day composing lj entries in your head about it for later is totally true, I just don’t get to the posting part.
The past few weeks have been pretty cool, and have gone by so incredibly fast. The weekend is over, and before I know it, it’s the weekend again. Very cool. A few weeks ago was lalagimp‘s birthdate and philosophus, majorxero and me went with her to Gameworks for a night out. We had loads of fun and lala won like fifty billion tickets on the coin machines. OK, not really, but it was a butt load, and to make things even better, the girl at the ticket redemptions counter wanted to leave so bad (it was just after midnight) that she gave her like a thousand more tickets just to get us to go (after she lost lala’s ticket that said how many points she had). I wanna go do that again.
A couple weekends ago we went to Letty and Richard’s apartment for our first dinner party over there. I think they already had one, but it was on a day that we couldn’t go. Anyway, long story short, good food and good friends make for a great night. We played Cranium Turbo and the boys won. It was so much fun! I think that my favorite new activity in this one vs the regular Cranium is the puppeteering. It’s like charades, but you have to move a team mate to try and make the rest of your team guess what the word/phrase/movie/whatever is. And spelling as a team, letter by letter, backwards can totally screw you up. I can’t wait to play again!
I want to know what is up with my flist. In a fandom where it is ok to pair Harry to his godfather, where Snape embaces Hermione, where it is commonplace for the Marauders to have orgies with no girls involved, why have I not seen anyone talk about The 40 Year Old Virgin?! Ok, lalagimp talked about it, but she was there! We went to go see it that night and lala had this thing for 5 free movie tickets, which rocked because there were five of us, so she spotted all of us! Well, we got crappy seats (2nd row) because we were running late and went to eat at El Torito which is right next to the theater. Dude. I was crying. Crying!!! It was so funny! I thought I would have been worn out of the waxing scene, but it was so hilarious – especially when he walked home and his shirt had blood stains (really his, btw) on his chest where his man-o-lantern was waxed. And that ending? NEVER saw it coming. LMAO. So, if you love low brow humor and have yet to see it, you’d better go!
Last Saturday, we were invited to a wedding. It was someone from Juan’s work and I was so excited – it was an Indian wedding! But Juan’s mom called that morning to say that she was throwing a surprise birthday party for his dad. *headdesk* Who was the surprise to be for?! lol We manage to go over there and I am really happy we did. The party was happenin’ with lots of family that I hadn’t seen in a while. It was a lot of fun and people were having a great time. We left at about 9pm and got to the wedding about half an hour later. It was so gorgeous, all the saris, it was like a glittery rainbow! And the bride was gorgeous. She looked like a Bollywood movie star. The music and dance were great, the food wonderful, and it was really sad that Juan had a headache. I mean, he couldn’t dance! Juan. Didn’t. Dance. I know!!! And he really wanted to, badly, but he wasn’t up for it, so a little after midnight, we left. Dude, they know how to party. We left there wanting to listen to more Indian music but realized that we have no point of reference. So Juan is going to ask for some recs later. Can anyone on my flist offer up some really good Indian/Hindi dance music?
And Sunday… we went to Laguna Beach to the Festival of the Arts. It really felt like it was in the middle of nowhere, but it was only like ten minutes from The Block in Orange, so it really isn’t that far from civilization. But anyway, Juan and I took two of my sisters, Sabi and kaptainsnot. It was actually a lot of fun. There was tons of art to look at, from paintings to photography, sculpture to jewelry. At the end we were pretty tired and sat at a demo where this sculptor named Scott was making a box with a ‘fantasy creature’ on top. It was humanoid and pretty cool. It was just fun to sit there and watch him work. After some time of sitting there not saying anything, he tried to strike up conversation a couple of times, and it didn’t take, but by the end of it, we were all cracking up like old friends. It was funny because Sabi recommended that he make ceramic plugs, because she has never seen anyone make them out of clay. She shared her glass ones, buffalo horn, acrylic, all of them, and he enjoyed the talk. And then with kaptainsnot there with live commentary, well, let’s just say that those of you with the fortune of having chatted with her at one time or another, it just doesn’t compare. It was lots of fun, but soon it got late and we needed to head back. It was fun just sitting back and talking and making fun of stuff. We ended the night with Mickey D’s Oreo McFlurries and a Caramel/Butterscotch Sunday. And all was good.
We also talked about going to Magic Mountain in October. Looks like the 8th (open from 10am to 10pm). So orale chusma! If you wanna go, let me know.
And what about birthdays? Letty, majorxero, and I have lately taken to celebrating our days together (the 23rd, 25th, and 27th, respectively). We haven’t really talked about it, but here is what I want to do: Medieval Times. September 24 at 8:15 p.m. I know it’s cheesy, but it’s SO MUCH FUN! I just called and got some info
So if the whole chusma could make it, that would make 11 (12 if snubs brings someone)[Alex, Chuy, Kayla, Memo, Letty, Richard, Juan, Anitza, Lynette, Heyzen, and Chris]. If we have 12 people, all three birthdays would make it in free! Basically, you need 3 people to pay, and the birthday person gets in free. So we need a total of 12 if everyone wants to come. Tickets are $47.95, add $10 for royalty treatment (prefered seating, program, banners to wave, and some other stuff). Bday people can also pay the difference for the celebrity package: $16 for all royalty stuff plus cake slice, announcement, and group photo. That’s all the info I’ve got right now, because the rest depends on the rest of you wanting to come. I have no idea if Memo or Letty think that I am off my rocker, but thing is, I personally, want to totally do this.
And after all that fun, it’s time to do laundry.
