Various and sundry…

I got nasubionna‘s card yesterday! Thank you! It is lovely! I have a feeling that will be part of my annual Christmas decorations from now on!

On other good news, Senate Blocks Alaskan Refuge Drilling!

And something that I just thought would be so uber cool, colored bubbles! Bubbles have been a clear rainbow for as long as anyone can remember. Now, they will come in full on vibrant colors! The possibilities for these bubbles – and the new dyes developed for them – are endless! Coming from a green perspective, balloons have been an issue with me for quite some time. Not most of the time, but in places where there are thousands of them, and they are released as some sort of beautiful symbolic (or purely aesthetic) gesture. Uhm… where do you think they go from there? Did you think they disintegrate as soon as they are out of view? Apart from the usual balloons stuck in wires and trees, eventually they make their way to the ocean. And then the stupid sea turtles eat them thinking they’re sea jellies. But that aside, it’s just gross to think of thousands of balloons that have been ‘freed’ that will eventually pop and fall as non-biodegradeable trash…

so yeah… about them bubbles…

I bet you can see that I think they would make a wonderful alternative to using balloons. =)

Dude. The weather is freally starting to freak me out (some of the more superstitious among us call this “earthquake weather”). This morning, when I got to work, it was sunny and warm. Now I look out the window, and I can’t see the water – the fog is SO THICK. I saw the sun two hours ago! *sigh* We are gonna have an 80 degree Christmas. I would say that it looks like it will be a beach Christmas, but this year the “Christmas swells” are so bitchin’, all the pro surfers are out catching 15/20 foot waves right now. Not a good time to go to the beach and pounce around the sand/surf. Might be fun to go and watch though. We’ll see. Well, maybe – you know, if there isn’t this crazy stupid fog.
