Ok, that is damned cool; at least the theory. However, I don’t think I’d actually want to do it myself. I actually think that the medical aspect; the being able to replace bit of bones for people with cancer is the coolest part, but I am a bit of a medical geek.

    Also agreed, except I would only consider getting one if it really did help them further what they are doing. I wouldn’t want one just for the heck of it. And even then it would reside in a box until I had some of my cooler friends around who would like to see it. After that, it would go back to its box. 😛

  Well, when you consider that most people need to get their wisdom teeth pulled out anyway, it would seem that some good planning could get rid of that PITA tooth and get you a cool ring at the same time!

  You know, I am glad you brought that up because that is what it reminded me of, and I was trying to figure out the distinction. Why am I ok with the bone but not the diamonds? Uh, one is from life, the other death.

Unfortunately, I have four impacted (I think that’s what it’s called) wisdom teeth…I’ve never had them removed…maybe this would be an incentive? LOL

It’s sort of cool. I wonder, could they carve little designs in the bone for detail?

  Seeing as it is bone, like, normal, I guess you could, although I dunno what it takes to carve bone.
  
  I also have all three (I only ever had three) wisdom teeth, and yep, they are impacted too!

I’d totally do it, but I think I lost my chance. My wisdom teeth were already removed, along with a large chunk of jawbone attached to each. I was given the two salvageable ones as souvineers, which I promptly threw away, as far as I know. I was pretty drugged at the time and I never wanted to see the damned thing again.

But I do like bones, and I like how they can grow the cells in a lab. Bone, once it’s built the way they are building it, is essentially dead mineral deposits, so it’s not like the ring is made out of flesh or anything.

And wearing a ring made out of your own bones? Well, that actually weirds me out less than wearing the bones of someone else, since I’m around my own bones all the time. At the same time, I’m currently wearing the skin of a cow on my feet, so I’m a hypocrit.

But yeah. Those rings are pretty and no ethical issues are attached to them. I would like one.
