Chicken on the grill
Well, I am sittin down to type this up while I let the chicken sit on the grill on the balcony. The apartment is nice, clean, and organized, and I am feeling pretty damn good about that.
We had the parents and in-laws over on Sunday for a carne asada (also had pollo). Made a very simple potato salad that got rave reviews, as did the avocado salsa. We pretty much sat around talking, eating, and watching Planet Earth. I kept popping in one after the other. It is simply amazing, and the HD DVD version on our tv is simply wonderful. I am sorry, but it will take a while for it to get old. 😉
Yesterday, my sisters came over and we had French toast for brunch. Well, most of us did, Sabi decided she wanted some sausages, so she put them on the grill. And seriously, we ate them for the rest of the afternoon as we watched part of a MASH marathon and Peter Jackson’s King Kong. I honestly don’t know why that movie didn’t get a better audience. It was pretty damned good! The only thing is how terribly heartbreaking it is to see Kong die at the end, but then again, you already knew that, didn’t you?
After they left, I cleaned up the apt and then finally watched Curse of the Golden Flower. It wasn’t what I expected at all. It was way more of a family drama. Not that I am complaining, mind you, just not what I expected. The scenery and costumes were outstanding. The story kept unraveling and it was like :O. The skeletons in an emperor’s closet might be covered in gold, but they were still dead. Seriously disfunctional peeps man!
Oh! And we finally were able to see Children of Men! Wow, dude, that was good and so intense. When it was done, I realized that I had been tense and anxious the entire time. It was a relief when it was over. Cuaron rocks my socks.
Netflix would also rock my socks if it would send me my next DVD. I was supposed to get it a week ago. Not cool, Netflix. Not cool.
