No barkin’ from the dog, no smog…
Today was a good day.
Well, ignoring that I had to be in at work at 5:45 in the morning. But you know getting out there and it being well into sunrise just makes it so much more pleasant. The weather was gorgeous today and EF and I made our way to Fontucky to do an auditorium program for a couple hundred 1st graders. As soon as I got the paper of where we were going, I knew I had done a program at that school before. Last time we were there, in the middle of our program, the school went on lockdown because there was a suspect being chased on foot by the police in the neighborhood. It was, erm, interesting. lol But that had no bearings on today because we didn’t have that happen and the teachers, kids, and lunch ladies were so nice! The lunch lady came and offered us a free lunch each (which we took, that was our breakfast!). Then when the kids were done coming through the truck, one of the teachers that had been in the program came and invited us to the teacher’s lounge to enjoy the potluck! EF and I looked at each other and knew it was on! We packed everything up and went to the lounge and ate some chicken and fruits and all was good. The people were really nice and genuinely grateful.
And EF told me something that totally made me go “Awwwwww!” this morning. As we drove on the 710 going North, we passed by my apartments (you can see them from the freeway) and he waved and then realized that I was in the cab with him. He says that every time he goes on outreach and they pass my apartment, no matter what is going on he stops the convo and waves to me! That totally made my day. 😀
The weather was really nice today, but it was too hot in Fontana. When we got back to Long Beach it was such a relief, it had to be at least 20 degrees cooler. So lovely.
