Update time!

A few random thoughts/updates:

  • I am really annoyed at DSP for having their big sale on Black Friday and not on Cyber Monday. Sure, they have 30% off today, but Friday’s was 50% off. And I was working! And this is a company that started online. Grr! (I am still buying today, just not as much.)
  • Thanksgiving feast was amazing. There was WAY TOO MUCH FOOD. But that’s a good thing. 😉
  • The rest of the weekend wasn’t that great since I worked Fri/Sat. It was pretty normal weekend for me. No super special four-day weekend here.
  • I may decide to put some xmas stuff up today at home. I don’t think we will do a tree this year unless we move things around significantly.
  • I tried plastic bag fusing. Wow. It was an enlightening experience. I made a little bag that is ok, but it took me all afternoon and it looks pretty horrible and has little holes in places. I have a lot of practice ahead of me, but the amount of work it took me to do doesn’t leave me wanting to do it again too soon. lol Can’t I skip to the part where I rock at it already? Tips if you decide to try it out:
    • Get yourself some large sheets of paper. I only had printer paper, and I found myself making mistakes because I didn’t keep track of where the sheets where with regards to the iron. And ironing in the middle of a large area is really difficult because you don’t want to touch the iron to the unprotected plastic. Actually, just get the roll of parchment. I had stickiness issues with one of the plastics which you shouldn’t get with the parchment.
    • When you first start, start out with the bags that you don’t care about (if you have any preferences). You will mess up the first one. My iron was set too hot initially. After some adjusting, I found that the Wool setting was best with my iron.
    • Don’t peel off the paper from the plastic too fast. Let it cool or blow on it as you slowly peel away. If you do it too fast, you can stretch out the still hot plastic and warp it or even make holes.
    • The Target bags worked the best out of the ones that I tried (also did Ralphs and Vons, even a SF Marriot one which drove me bonkers). Really easy to fuse and very smooth.
    • Be patient. If you try to cut corners you will mess up. This is the same for most crafts, but here if you mess up, you usually can’t recover. Take it easy.
    • I just found these tips which look awesome.
  • I think that’s it.
