Lomo!

My last day on the truck

Wow. I am having so much fun with my Lomographic Fisheye camera, thanks to my Immy Staff SS. I bought four rolls of film and used them up in one day. Then I had them developed at a one-hour place and even paid for the CDs so that I could get them on the comp asap. Shooting from the hip (not looking through the viewfinder) was a really freeing experience and totally rad. Not getting that instant gratification from digital is hard, but I really turned it into a “omg, what will this look like?!” surprise game.

I learned a lot with those first rolls of film, so let me share:

  • Bright light is best.
  • 800 film is not worth it (stick with 400, the grain is too much with the 8).
  • If it is even slightly dark, use the flash (even though the lens cannon leaves a shadow).
  • Get closer. Always closer than you think.
  • Never get the Kodak CD because the scans are crappy and low-res.

I can’t wait to get more film and play around some more with some of my every day experiences! Check out my Lomo set here.
