Live long and prosper

Well, like others on my flist, I want to wish Star Trek a happy birthday. Quite possibly my first foray into sci-fi, Star Trek has always been something that I love. Nowadays, there is no new series to keep my eye on (and I haven’t gone so far as to watch Enterprise just yet) anymore but I do like keeping an eye on Wil Wheaton because he has gone on to do much more than be the whiny teenager that everyone loves to hate. He has grown up to be a wonderful writer and is one of the coolest geeks around.

Why is it that I always have to be the womanizer!;)

I guess I am one of the few people that liked Wil Wheaton when he was on the show. I had a huge crush on Wesley Crusher. It must have been the age thing. hmmm.

  I liked him when he was on the show too. I think that girls our age were more prone to liking him. We either liked him because he was cute and our age or because he was smart and cute and our age and showed the old people just how awesome a kid could be when you listened to them.
  
  All that stuff just becomes annoying when you watch it as a grown up. LOL
  
  But really, I never hated him.

Enterprise was really good. I loved the way it started everything off and stayed within the mythos of the Trek world. Besides, Scott Bakula with a cute little beagle (Porthos) was a good excuse for me to watch obsessively. It’s sad seeing how their mission turned from exploration to militaristic, but I think it really worked in tune with what has happened in our country in the past ten years.

  See, I think I heard the other stories. About how they totally screwed with the Star Trek timeline, introducing races that were supposed to be introduced for the first time in later series (the Farengi come to mind).
  
  I am sure that one day, when I am bored and they are doing a marathon, I will sit and become engrossed in it, but it isn’t something that I am looking to see.

    There really only was that one example of where they screwed with canon. They do a fairly decent job of retconning anything that needs to be retconned.
