So Cal Fires

This is insane. I am hearing things like "worst case scenario". There is nothing on tv except fire coverage. It’s in Anaheim Hills, Yorba Linda, Chino Hills, Corona (which are all kinda or pretty close), then up in Sylmar and even over on the Palos Verdes Penninsula.

The sky is orange and it is only midday. Where it isn’t orange it is thick and a greyish brown. I am going to close the windows as soon as I finish this because slowly it has gotten worse and now it smells like someone is burning stuff right outside. I am starting to get a headache and the taste at the back of my throat is dry and smokey. Juan went to go get a smog check on the car (of all things!) because he needs it for the registration. All the cars are covered in ash. It is in the 80’s and humidity is in the single digits. The Santa Ana winds came along and are having a field day.

Hundreds of homes lost, luckily, no loss of life.

I think you and Juan were still at school when the fires in the San Gabriel mountains were going crazy. I remember those days. You couldn’t even see the sun but for a little disk that was slightly lighter than the rest of the sky. At night, you could see the glow in the east so I remember what you’re explaining.

The brush fires in SoCal always make me sad.

  I’m not sure since they all start to blend together, but that might be the one where I remember it snowing ash in our backyard when we still lived on Randolph.
  
  It is terrible right now. Instead of golden, now it is just a sickly yellow.

Urgh. Hang in there and stay safe. If it’s not too much to ask, please keep posting updates on the fires. Like last year, I’m hearing nothing direct from my family, so you and the news on the net are all I have to go by.

  I’ll keep an ear out for anything close to Hemet. Things are pretty much right smack between your house and mine. Corona, Anaheim Hills, Yorba Linda, Chino Hills, Diamond Bar.

Everytime these fires happen I am in horrific awe because I just cannot imagine what it is like.

  I was just thinking about that last night. How if you’ve never been, it’s as foreign as a tornado or tornado alarm to me. I’ll try and describe it later.

There was a news snippet on CNN about a ‘movie star’s close brush with the fire’ and I thought, SOD IT … I don’t care about the stars…but I do wonder how Mag and others on my list are doing.
