Happy New Year Folks!

Well, first of all, Happy New Year to all! *sigh* A new year already. Kinda scary. Kinda exciting too. I hope and pray with all my heart that this is our year. I hope that I find a good job. I hope to move out. I hope to do many things. Juan hopes for the same. He has a job, but not the one he wants. We want to make things happen this year. It almost makes me cry how bad I want things to move on, to get out of this stinking swamp of a rut that I have gotten myself into.

No. This year, things are gonna change.

To follow majorxero‘s recap method, I will do the same because it will make things a lot easier for me to remember. Let’s start at last Monday.

Monday, Dec 23: We had our “1st Annual Chusma X-mas Dinner and Secret Santa Gift Exchange”. Hope this is the first of many many many. We had so much food it almost hurt to look at it. Juan brought bags of potato chips and two huge tubs of sour creme (as well as a little egg nog). Alex (amontoya) made enough potatoes to feed an army. Chuy made enough carne molida con papas to go with the mashed ‘taters. I refried some frijoles, and also bought some ready to eat chicken from the deli at the market. Memo brought a bunch of drinks and much needed ice. Letty brought us a big bucket of home made potato salad. Heyzen and Lynette brought a load of rolls and pies. Yes – we had leftovers. 🙂 Well, that was part one of the night. Part two was more exciting. That is where we got to do the gift exchange. Heyzen started it off because he had already given Memo his Bonsai tree before we officially started the exhange (it was so cute – I mean, cool). Then Memo (majorxero) gave Alex this nice big Quinto Sol to go on their bedroom wall (perfect!). Alex then gave Heyzen the Godfather Trilogy (score!). From there we skipped to, uhm, I think Chuy gave me my gift. ji-ji. You guys have to see this. He got me a limited edition Harry Potter watch that comes in this beautiful black wood box lined with black velvet. I have piece 739 out of 2,500. My god, it’s beautiful. Then I gave Lynette the Special Edition Wizard of Oz Monopoly set. She got Chuy a cool watch with a red face (one of his favorite colors) from Anchor Blue. The only two people left were Juan and Letty, who had each other. lol Juan got Letty a really cute black night purse with a mirrored trim on the flip – with matching earrings. She got him a giftcard for Target which he used to buy the Back to the Future Trilogy. Apperently, them two and giftcards go way back, and Juan has saved every single one of them. To top it all off, Alex and Chuy also got me the CoS Soundtrack with Dumbledore on the cover! That is the one I wanted! Yay!

So that was Monday.

Tueday (Nochebuena): It was a very kickback day. For the past few years, that is how it has been. Moreno came over with a friend of his. So did Beto (Mili and the kids went to Mexico). We got all sorts of goodies which I don’t feel like getting into right now because this entry is getting really long. One thing I will share though, is that my parents got me a Palm Pilot! Not just any Palm, but a color one! An M130. I don’t know much about Palms yet, but it is a really nice one. I love it!! It was a really nice evening. At the same time though, I kinda got nostalgic for the days in High School when Yair would call me up right after midnight, and we’d three-way with Alex. The phone ringing with back-to-back phone calls of people wishing a Merry Christmas. Now everybody is so busy with their own lives that it just doesn’t happen anymore. No calls from anybody (except Juan – which I am not about to belittle, but it was expected). I guess we’ve all grown up. blech

Wednesday (X-mas): Time to do the housecleaning ‘cuz the house was in shambles from the night before. Later that night Juan and I went bowling. The best we did that night was 79 (me), and a painful 174 for Juan. Painful because he just needed one more pin for the 175 club. Oh well.

I don’t remember Thursday – and I didn’t even drink. I dunno, maybe I’ll come back to this.

Friday: I was supposed to go out with Alex and Anthony. The excuse was we were going to Walmart to see if we could find some xmas lights that Chuy wanted. Stuff happened with the car and her brother and plans changed. We couldn’t pick up Anthony. We still went to Walmart though. We bought a bunch of candles that were 50% off. We saved so much money! Don’t ask how much we spent though. 😉 Later that night, Juan and I went bowling again. This time, even though we were tired, we did better. Juan broke the 175 club with a 179, and I almost broke 100 with a 98. I hope this means that I am getting better.

Saturday: I wanted to go to Magic with Juan but we couldn’t. We were too tired. Instead we went to a carnival by his house. It was so cool. He got me to ride the Ferris Wheel (only because it was the basket kind, not the bench kind). He talked to me the whole way. I was paranoid, and super-duper afraid. He kept trying to make me relax and stuff. I was just too scared. Juan is the only one that I am able to let go with. Feeling vulnerable in his presence is ok. It’s something that I can hardly do with anyone else – ever. We got on some other scary-for-me rides that were still pretty cool. Let me tell you what I ate though. Before we went there, my mom and dad made some cocteles de marisco at my house. Juan and my parents ate those, and they were nice enough to bring me some California Rolls. OK, so then at the Carnival, I was hungry, and Juan buys me a corn dog. Then a pickle. Then a corn on the cob with mayo and parmessan (it’s a mexican thing). And little bites here and there of the churro that Juan bought. And I didn’t get sick. 🙂 While we were there, it started to rain on us and it was so nice. We slowly walked to the van while we ate the corn (and Juan ate his 3 tacos de carne asada). IT was fun. It wasn’t pouring, more like sprinkling – but the last half of Juan’s taco was drenched because by that time, it starting coming down pretty hard. We got to the van and luckliy, he had two dry jackets in there. He never takes them out of the car. So we warmed up and decided to go to Walmart (god I love that store) so that we could go buy some chips and soda for our trip to Magic Mountain the next day (that Alex and Chuy planned at the last minute). We went in and bought those things as well as a pair of shoes for Juan and ones for me in 15 minutes. That is such a record! That was cool.

Sunday: We go to Magic Mountain and have a blast. We only got on two rides, left early, but had a lot of good food in Chuy’s van. Having Season Passes has taken the worries out of packing in the most rides in a day. We got on X and on Deja Vu. They were awesome. Alex and Chuy almost crapped their pants on Deja Vu, but we are mightily proud of them for even getting on. Chuy didn’t tell us that Heyzen and Lynette were also their on their own. So we met up one we were already at the lockers at X (they cut through the lines and met us up there). Since we left early, we then went to go try out Heyzen’s new theater system with The Godfather. It was cool. I liked it. I am not into it, but I am now happy to say that I have seen this pop cultural phenomenon.

Tueday, Dec 31st: Baby’s (kaptainsnot) 14th birthday. Juan came over after he got out of work early and spent the whole afternoon with us. That was very nice. We waited for Baby and my mom and hilda to come home because my dad had already brought back the cake from the bakery. I got a copy of Snape’s poster (on the comp of course) and in the parseltongue font added in “Happy Birthday Miss Magallon”. When she came in and saw that, she was so amazed and giddy and delighted, that she didn’t know what to do with herself. It was so cool. She loved that surprise more than anything else we could have possibly done for her or given her. We were so proud. So then Juan left a little after because like every year, we each spend the holidays with our own families. So as midnight drew nearer, Alex got here. She wanted to spend New Year’s over at my house so she asked if she could. She’s been having issues with her little brother and didn’t want to go to TJ with him. She also didn’t want to spend it with her parents over at their relatives because of the age difference. Chuy was at the club, and for some reason, she didn’t want to go there either, so she came to my house instead. She got here like at 11:30, and left like at 12:30. I warned her that we never really do anything special that day, but she wanted to come anyway. So, it was mellow, with just immediate family and her. She then left and my parents asked her to call when she got home. I talked to Juan for a wuick 3 minute phone call and agreed to meet up today. I then watched Minority Report with my sistersin my room and went to bed at like 2:30am. Chuy then called me because he was upset and worried that Alex wasn’t home yet and that she wasn’t taking any calls on her cell. I tried calling her as well but she wouldn’t pick up. I went to sleep worrying about it. Alex called me at 4:30 in the morning telling me she was home. We haven’t talked yet, and I don’t know what’s up. I just know that it’s the second year in a row that Chuy and Alex aren’t together. I don’t know what’s going on.

And now I have to go because this took longer than expected, Juan just got here, and I am not ready to go.
