Man…

This was an incredible weekend, both in a good way and a bad way. We diligently worked on the invitations this weekend. I worked both days, but they were fantastic work days. On Saturday, Misha and I went kayaking with 14 guests and three guides down in Upper Newport Bay. The weather was perfect and we had a splendid time just crusing down there. We saw mullet jumping out of the water, egrets, terns, and many great blue herons. It was fantabulous. Even cooler, Misha would argue, is that we got to travel down there in the aquarium’s fully decorated yellow submarine minivan. *shakes head*

Anyway, after that, Juan and I were supposed to go to a gig that night to see his friend play, but we got caught up with invites, and we were so tired by the end of it that we couldn’t go. It sucked.

On Sunday, I worked again, this time at the aquarium, interpreting before going out on the boat. It was fun to grab different items like whale baleen or an orca skull and walk around with it talking to random people about it. In fact, that is how I ran into Jerry, from HS with his wife and two kids (yikes!). The kids were adorable and they were all getting ready to go watch the 3D movie. So that was the first half of the day, the second half consisted of two 90 minute boat trips out in Rainbow Harbor. It was a nice day for that as well. We had about 60 people on each trip, and it looked as if people just wanted to cruise around lazily – the energy level was way down. But that’s ok, because that is how I felt too.

Luis called me sometime while I was on the boat and said that they were going to throw a bonfire and to invite the chusma. After some deliberation, we agreed, and it was Juan, platonicform, majorxero, and me. We went down to Dockweiler Beach. And there were no pits. We walked around for what seemed like hours to no avail. Finally we left, went over to Luis’ pad and had dinner over there. His buddies were really cool too and we all just had a nice time hanging out talking about the 80’s. Seriously, it was a lot of fun to reminisce and talk about so many cool shows. And I found out that Jem is out on DVD! How cool is that?! So we made smores indoors and finished off the night watchin season one of the chapelle show.

As Luis walked us out to our cars, we heard a crash, and not that far down the street, there was somebody breaking in to a beamer. We booked it and took off in the opposite direction. Freaky.

Monday, you guessed it – invitations!!! Ay ay ay. The thing is, that these invitations have gone through so many revisions and mistakes. All because we’ve been in a rush. I told Juan, if we weren’t in a rush, we’d have been done by now. But anyway, we met up with La Chusma at Whittier Narrows and ate KFC and watched the boys play Chusmaball. It really is a hilarious game, especially with them playing it. We’ve been promised a rule book sometime soon. That is the only way that anyone will be able to keep track of the ever changing rules (kinda like calvinball). At the end, I pitched the enormous spiderman foursquare ball. It was cool. Aside from that though, they all helped us put together our invites and in one hour, we managed to take care of what took Juan 6 hours the day before. It was awesome. Guys, thanks a lot. We are really really really greatful for that. We got help and had fun. Wonderful.

Yesterday, Juan and I went to check out the limo place and some cake places. We found an awesome limo that makes me sad that we aren’t using it longer (or at night). It’s an Excursion that has been customized very nicely. They have neon tubbing all around the interior (that changes color), has a disco light, star ceiling, fake fireplace, lazers, and a few dvd screens. I know this sounds like so much overkill, but dude, it is party time in that limo. It is all placed rather nicely inside with grey/black leather seats and a great sound system. Oh, did I happen to mention that it seats 16? Yeah. It does. Room for the whole wedding party. I was telling Juan that one of these days we need to rent one to drive us out to Vegas. That would be such an awesome road trip!

And cakes? We found the cake. We found the damn cake, and I dunno if we can afford it. Dude, this bakery, this lady’s cakes are so damn good. And she is very confident about her baking as well, and she knows what she is talking about. Man, I really hope that we can work something out because I want her cakes!

And that about leaves me here to finish up invites/sort them/ address them. Oh! And I need to order our toasting flutes. Alright, I gotta go.
