Biocomps rant
So ok, the only reason that I am even up writing this at 11:30 in the (Saturday) morning is because I got back from taking my bio comprehensive exam at around 10:30am. It started at 9am. I dunno how I did. The first 6 questions were all like, “Yeah, I know this stuff! This is gonna be great!”. But those were just to ease the tension, I guess, ‘cuz after that, the stuff started to get harder. There was some stuff in there that I was all like “this is easy, I know this 100%!”, and then there were the questions where I had to think about it an stuff. Then there were the questions where I was like “What the hell? How do they expect me to remember that?!”. But anyways . . . .
I find it ridiculous that all bio majors take the same biocomp exam. Yes, that means that MCD and marine bio take the same freakin’ exam. So they aren’t too happy with the ecology questions, and I hate the cell bio and o-chem questions. I think they are just too lazy to make exams for each major (or even sets of related majors).
Last quarter, only 1/3rd passed it. So now they lowered to passing curve to 50% instead of 60%. They kept the same kind of test (100 multiple choice questions) with the supposed same difficulty, so that is throwing me off. I don’t know what to expect for my grade. I hope that I pass it this time. I don’t want to worry about it next quarter.
I’ll know by the end of next week, hopefully.
Now it’s time to relax and then hit the books again for my inverts midterm I have on Monday morning.
