Aquarium urges healing. Essay forum encourages LBUSD youth to share feelings on shark killings.
Even before the essay forum, we have been getting letters and posters from local classes that have addressed this in their school. It’s been really sweet. Yesterday, whether you noticed or cared or not, was Veteran’s Day. Most of the time, it is a holiday that tends to go ignored by most people. Well, I worked yesterday at the Aquarium doing presentations and the like. Basically, I was on the floor. And all veterans, armed forces, police officers, firemen, and senior citizens got in free. It was like a weekend in summer – with old people and their grandkids. It was crazy! And of course, all day long out at Shark Lagoon, I kept getting asked about the incidents, which after the 5th or 6th time, I didn’t think I could do it anymore. But, people care, you know? So I had to talk to each person as if they were the first.
Anywho, let’s change the subject.
Last night, I went out with friends from work to El Torito for Happy Hour. Had one margarita and a burrito, but most of all, I had a lot of fun with everyone. Juan even joined us towards the end after his softball ‘practice’ (only one other person showed up). We even started a book club! First book? The Dirty Girl’s Social Club, as recommended by Sam. Not something I would have picked up off the shelf, but that is what a book club is for right? Also shared my idea about having somewhat monthly movie nights at our place open to anyone that wants to come, Chusma, coworkers, etc, and people were already in. So we had a great time, and for the first time in a social situation with people at work, I didn’t feel like an idiot. W00t!
