What to say?
Geez, where to begin?
Well, Alex and Chuy made it up ok. We had a great time. They love coming up here to visit us and Santa Cruz. The weather was very nice to us and gave us a perfectly beautiful weekend. On Friday night we went down to Shogun and ate the yummiest sushi and teriyaki chicken, oh! And tempura green tea ice cream! Oooohhhh. . . . Best of all was Chuy’s reaction to how good his salmon was. He was experiencing utter bliss. He looked like he was asleep on the table, but in reality, he was just dreaming in a state of happiness rarely achieved by anyone, let alone with food.
After that we came home and talked and went to bed really really late.
Next morning we wake up and Chuy and Alex made a great chorizo and beans breakfast (Oh! Wait, Alex made the best cinnamon banana pancakes ever! Not that I’ve had any before, but they were good! She made them Friday morning). So after breakfast, we got ready to go on a hike in upper campus. That was fun. It took us about 1:30 hrs. By the time we got back, Alex se estaba desarmando – lol. But I was almost too, it made me feel better that I indeed had the upper hand when it came to hiking when compared to Alex. It would have killed me if she was better than me, after living here for almost four years. lol. So then we went down to the Inn to set up for the formal. We showed up a little late, but that was ok. Chuy and Alex set up his equipment. Herbie and I (and the rest of the crew) set up everything else. By the time we were done, the place looked fabulous! It really did.
The dance was great. We had good food (the best punch – eh Alex & Shalea?), and everyone like the place. The music was fantastic, thanks to Chuy, and people danced all night.
The next day, we were basically comatose. I couldn’t move. I was so tired. I had an essay to write for Inverts. They needed to go home before it got too late. Juan had a program due. Geez we were screwed for time. But anyway, we went to eat at the Taqueria (mmmm). I gave Chuy and new route to take which wouldn’t be so hard on his van.
They got home ok. I turned in my essay. Juan is still dealing with his program. I feel so sad and helpless for him. I have never seen him more unhappy and tired and stressed the whole time we have been together. *sigh* I just keep telling him to hang on. :o\
