And then BAM!, you’re old.
Why am I so tired? It is like my body said Happy 29th birthday and then whacked me with a stick. My energy levels have been through the basement and my appetite hasn’t been what it normally is. I wake up sore and with a headache. It seriously is like if I have a flu or cold (never remember which is which) without the major snot or coughing (although, if I inhale deeply, it does cause me to cough).
Makes me feel like crap.
That aside though, towards the end of the day, after taking iron, Emergen-C, vitamins, etc, and taking a shower, I tend to feel better, but it doesn’t last too late. Fortunately, on Saturday I lasted as long as I needed to. Juan took me to see Corteo, one of Cirque du Soleil’s touring shows! A circus clown imagines his funeral, and thus the story is born. It isn’t really as dark as it sounds. There are many many angels, visits to his childhood in his memory, he imagines all his past lovers coming together in a beautiful display of comraderie as they sensually twirl and dance in crystal chained chandeliers, he imagines how people react and come together around his deathbed, and of course, he imagines the procession. Because it was from the imaginings of a circus clown, the acts were mostly traditional, but with a very cool Cirque twist. Tightrope walkers, flying trapeze artists, teeter totter acrobats, and an amazing parallel bars-like performance that took it to a whole new level.
But one of my favorite parts involved a little lady.
She was tiny, perhaps three feet? I dunno, but she was beautiful and tiny and made the cutest little mini Betty Boop voice. Well, she was attached to a ring contraption around her waist which was tied to four HUGE helium balloons. And I mean HUGE. And she floated in the air so serenely. The clown came out on the stage as she floated on his fingers and then he tossed her over to us in the crowd and she would land on our hands and hop off to bounce off of someone else, all the while making the most adorable little Boop-y noises possible. It was freakin adorable.
I am so happy we finally caught one of their traveling shows. I have been wanting to see them for so many years under the blue and gold top. Now I have! 😀
On Sunday, we went over to my mom’s because she was making a bday dinner for me. Well, she made Mexican shrimp cocktails (which American shrimp cocktails cannot hold a candle to) for me and a whole roasted chicken with home made fries for the non-shrimp eaters. She also made me a delicious cheesecake that she makes from scratch. AND, she gave me a huge birthday present box with included all sorts of pampering jewels (like the fuzziest robe I have ever held and some amazingly fuzzy slippers). Sabi gave me a really pretty little tree that I will take a photo of and ask you all what it is because she doesn’t know, lol. It is really cute though!
gave me a little box with are almost technically vintage rubber stamps. Very cute assortment. And the youngest one gave me a mini poster with a poem and artwork that seriously brings tears to my eyes. I just held it together in front of the fam so that I wouldn’t embarrass myself or her (if you knew my family, you would know why, lol). But yes, it was really cool.
Now I am going to try to make some dinner and help Juan pack. He is going on a business trip tomorrow to San Francisco!! Isn’t that cool? He is going to a conference to represent the company that he works for. He is really nervous because it is his first conference, first time traveling like that on his own, and he has tons of work to do back home. But I hope that he manages to have fun with it. For a little while, we considered asking if you would like to meet up for dinner
, but it seems that one of his coworkers is joining him the entire time, so I guess that would be weird.
Puerto Vallarta updates will be coming, I just haven’t been feeling up to it.
