Job Shadow

As an Education Associate at the Aquarium of the Pacific, I get the opportunity to teach some really fun classes to people that range from squirmy toddlers to full blown kayaking adults. In yesterday’s Press Telegram (our local Long Beach newspaper), they featured our most recent Job Shadow: Veterinarian class on the front page, and online, they even included a video slideshow which totally makes me wish I worked at the Aquarium.

Oh wait, I do! lol It’s just that after so many years, sometimes you need to see if from someone else’s point of view to see how great our programs really are. Yeah yeah, I know I am tooting our own horn, but if I didn’t believe in this place, for what they pay me, I wouldn’t be here.

The aquarium really is very fantastic, and your job is wonderful! I’d be there too if they had more than seasonal positions for me.

I loved doing tours at the lab because it made me realize how cool my job was, when I really needed reminding.

Dude, like twenty people have come and gone and we just hired like four new ed associates. None of those are seasonal. The ‘seasonal’ title has to be there sometimes, but more likely than not, it’s a keeper. But banking your entire livelihood when there is a chance they will say “laters!” is scary, so I understand.
