ARE BELONG TO US
Dude, this concert was awesome.
The entire time, I kept thinking about the lot of you, and specifically:
-
when they played at least three FF pieces, one of them beautifuuly on a piano, another with the full orchestra and choir
-
and
when Sora came onstage during a Kingdom Hearts piece with a Disney animated film montage
-
when they played WoW
-
when they did their brand new Halo 3 piece
-
again when they did a special Tron number
Before the concert, there was a cosplay contest. It was neat to see the dedication in some of those costumes – dayum! The concert began with that short poem up there and led into a hilarious Mrs. Pacman video. There was someone dressed as Mrs. Pacman running around with three ghosts chasing after her. It was hilarious! Then it went straight into the 8-Bit games. It was great! Pong, Asteroids, so many I can’t even remember. They also had a Mario medley/montage which is always great. For the Zelda fans, they had a great montage/number as well (this was actually the first music from a video game that I ever truely fell in love with – it makes me happy just thinking about the music!).
They also had two games to break up the two acts. For the first one, they asked for a volunteer to play a little game. They would have the chance to win an amazing arcade machine with hundreds of games on it. It was awesome, except the person that went up there sucked. They had to put on a T-shirt with a space ship on the back – the one from Space Invaders. lol They were going to play as the space ship! The guy held a button and had to run across the stage to make the space ship move and hide from the fire from the invading army. Too bad he sucked. And dudes, he was dressed as a banana. lol
The second game was supposed to be a contest to see who got the Hi Score on a game of old school Frogger. Too bad the A/V equipment failed and the game was nixed. At least those guys got goody bags.
There were also more complex pieces of music from such games as Final Fantasy, World of Warcraft, Conan, Bioshock, and Halo. It was all really beautiful.
They also brought out a ton of the people in the industry, but I don’t fangirl them so I forgot who they were. There was even a meet and greet afterwards, but I needed to be at work the next morning. It was late enough as it was!
I recommend that if you guys like video games and/or their music to go. They just had a sold out concert in the UK last night, so I guess that one is out of the question. But I know that star is going to one next year, and
, they are doing one in Maricopa! You should totally go.
Click on the photo for the Flickr set, and if you want to see my lame attempts at capturing video, here are the ones that I got. I ran out of memory while recording, so some are pretty much just teasers!
